High range crash on highway at Pimlico

A QUEENSLAND man almost four times over the legal alcohol limit lost control on the Pacific Highway at Pimlico last night and crashed into an embankment.

Richmond Local Area Command Inspector Doug Conners said the 43 year old man from Wavell Heights in Brisbane was driving a white Holden Commodore south along the highway at about 10.30pm last night when he failed to negotiate a turn onto Pimlico Road and drove into an embankment.

He said police attended and the driver indicated he had travelled from Brisbane.

The man was submitted to a breath test that resulted in a high range blood alcohol reading of 0.185.

As a result, he was arrested and charged with high range drink driving.

The Wavell Heights man was issued a court attendance notice to appear at Ballina Local Court.

Inspector Conners said the incident highlighted the stupidity of some motorists.

“Drink driving is dangerous, irresponsible and thankfully no one was killed or seriously injured,” he said.
