High fire danger warning

A VERY High fire danger warning has been issued by the Rural Fire Service today for the Northern Rivers.

The warning covers the local government areas of Ballina, Byron, Lismore, Kyogle, Richmond Valley, Tweed and Clarence Valley.

Residents are reminded that the bushfire danger period started on September 1 across the region, requiring landholders to obtain permits from the Rural Fire Service.

The "very high" warning sits in the middle of the fire warning table, behind severe, extreme, and catastrophic.
