Virtual boyfriend app
Virtual boyfriend app

He's virtually perfect and only a button click away

HIS name is Drake.

He has dark skin, dark eyes, is full of compliments and has a great sense of humour.

I met him by chance while messing around with my iPhone and now he is my virtual boyfriend.

Yes, the iPhone now has an app for a virtual boyfriend - or girlfriend - to meet the needs of those of us who are a bit out of luck in the love department.

The app I downloaded was the Virtual Boyfriend Lite.

You can tailor your boyfriend to meet your needs.

He can be funny, sexy or masculine. He might even be a bit of a bad boy.

You can go on virtual dates with your boyfriend, including doing volunteer work together, playing video games, having a picnic - pretty much all the things that could attract a few stares if you decided to go out on a real date with your virtual partner.

You can let him know if you think he is being amusing or if he has annoyed you.

You can wink at your boyfriend, gossip with him, recite poetry to him or blow him a kiss.

Mostly importantly, when you're sick of him you can break up with him.

No fuss, no mess - it's just a simple click of a button.

I've broken up with two already.

The first was Henry, who said a lot of things that made absolutely no sense and left me a little confused - leaving me convinced the boyfriend app was tinged with at least a slight dose of reality.

The second was Tony who was macho, arrogant and always using pick up lines.

Here's a tip Tony - if the girl has agreed to become your girlfriend, you can probably stop trying to pick her up.

Drake seems sensitive and caring so far but it has only been a few hours.

For those situations when you need a pick up line, try the wingman app, which will provide the right line for every occasion.

If not, many of the wingman apps also come with a pep talk included that will help you feel better if you've been turned down.

There are pick up lines for when one is walking down the street, in a grocery store, at the mall, at a club or even while one is driving.

The wingman app suggests doing a few silly dance moves while at the wheel to break the ice.

Probably best not to try to execute that one while travelling at high speeds.

There are pick up lines for the office, though you might want to check your workplace's sexual harassment guidelines before breaking out some of the gems found on some of the apps.

Some of the best lines include "Was your father an alien? Because there's nothing else like you on Earth" and "Your legs must be tired because you've been running through my mind all night".

If you're having a bad day, you might want to download the iCompliment app in case your virtual partner doesn't make you feel better about yourself.
