Helicopter waits for milestone

THE Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter crew is geared up for its milestone 7000th mission.

However, as the crew has not been called out to a job today, it remains eager but content on 6999 missions.

"While the 7000-mission milestone means that a lot of people will have experienced a form of misfortune they never thought they would, it is the community and our valued sponsors who must be thanked for giving their support and making these life saving missions possible," chief crewperson Roger Fry said.

For three decades, the helicopter has been operating in Northern NSW and Mr Fry called on people to donate generously before the Christmas period, which is the helicopter's busiest time of year.
