Helicopter on training run

IF you see the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter performing dramatic manoeuvres off the coast on Sunday, don’t panic – it's just a practice run.

The helicopter is doing its annual training exercise from 10am to noon as part of the service’s annual Australian Maritime Safety Authority review of techniques used to deliver vital rescue equipment to vessels or persons at sea.

The exercise will involve life raft drops to the Ballina Coast Guard vessel and the yacht "Ironbark" as part of a real life scenario exercise.

Local SLSA Ballina will also assist in the supply of surf life savers as patients for our crews to rescue from the sea or the life raft.
