Heart's final hopes destroyed as Roar dominates play

YOU wouldn't have thought the Heart was playing for its season after its lacklustre first half against the Roar at Suncorp Stadium yesterday.

The Roar dominated the first 45 minutes, scoring two goals courtesy of a Besart Berisha penalty, and a wonderful Thomas Broich strike.

That was enough for the Brisbane team to comfortably win 2-0, with the hosts so dominant, evidenced by goalkeeper Michael Theo's limited involvement.

Berisha converted his penalty after 12 minutes with a powerful strike, after Ivan Franjic was brought down inside the box from a clumsy challenge by Sam Mitchinson.

Then Broich thumped a brilliant shot home from outside the penalty area, the ball crashing into the top right-hand corner after 31 minutes.

The hosts could not add to their goal tally after that, despite clear-cut chances for Mitch Nichols and Steve Lustica.
