Health care cuts come under fire

THE Northern Rivers Health Care group is holding a public meeting at Lismore Workers Club at 2pm tomorrow for residents and health workers concerned about the recent cuts by North Coast Health Care Service.

Chairman Marshall Fittler said the speakers included mayor Jenny Dowell, the nurses’ union branch secretary Gil Wilson, and hopefully Dr Sue Page before the floor would be opened for general discussion.

“The public meeting is designed to let the general public join with nurses and allied health workers to ask questions and have their say about job cuts and health service cuts,” he said.

“The position nurses and allied health workers now find themselves in has become intolerable.

“Come along and let the New South Wales Government know that the people of this region, the general public, the nurses, and the allied health workers will not tolerate the slash and burn mentality undertaken by North Coast Area Health Service.”
