The interesting life of Casino's fascinator-maker

FOR the past four years Janita McCloy has been decorating and glamourising head wear and local races have been the better for it.

The Casino 'fascinator-maker' does most of her creative work at night.

"I started by decorating one hat and it sort of escalated into a full, double garage," she said.

"People send me photos of their outfits and I make the fascinators with the colours to match."

Ms McCloy said while many milliners made fascinators she worked at keeping them affordable so everyone could wear them.

"I order the bases in to keep the costs down and then decorate them as required," she said.

"I tend to like flowers and feathers and lace and ribbons."

One of Ms McCloy's works was used in a recent shoot to advertise the Beef Week Races coming up this Friday in a previous edition of the Richmond River Express Examiner.

"A lot of my work goes Australia-wide as I sell on Ebay (stores.ebay.com.au\jaysjewels) and have stock in Vogue, Casino, Enchanted, Lismore and Scarborough's Kyogle."

Tomorrow at the Rural Ladies Luncheon there is a display of headwear at the Casino RSM Club available for purchase.
