Have your say on North Coast TAFE pesticide plan

NORTH Coast TAFE is inviting public comment in developing its plan for pesticide use in its facilities and land.

The Plan has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Pesticides Regulation 2009 and identifies out how North Coast TAFE will notify members of the community when it applies pesticides in its public places, North Coast TAFE's Manager for Safety and Welfare, Bronwyn Smart said.

"In delivering high quality training services to our North Coast communities, we own and operate in a wide range of facilities and we want to ensure that we do everything we can to alert our communities of our pesticide use in those facilities," Ms Smart said.

"Clearly, whenever we determine that pesticides are the most appropriate control measure, we make sure they are applied in a safe, responsible manner by suitably accredited staff or contractors.

"This public consultation is to ensure everyone is aware of our approach to communicating to the public of our pesticide use and that they can provide feedback on that approach."

The draft plan is available at campuses or via a link on the North Coast TAFE website and it provides contact details for comment or feedback in writing by January 26.
