Have your say on koala plan

BALLINA Shire Council is seeking community feedback on the draft Ballina Shire Comprehensive Koala Plan of Management.

The plan has been developed as part of council’s response to “planning for a natural environment that will support our local koala population into the future”.

The draft plan includes a planning framework, management actions and habitat mapping relating to the shire’s koala population.

The council says this is especially important given the identification of what is classed as an important population under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act in the southern part of the Ballina Shire.

The draft plan can be viewed at the shire libraries, council’s customer service centre at 40 Cherry St, and on the council’s website www.ballina.nsw.gov.au

Visit ballina.nsw.gov.au/. p/koalas to leave feedback.

Residents can also provide feedback in person or by phoning Suzanne Acret on 66864444. Submissions close December 3.
