Layla Leisha, 7, may be in the Lismore area with her father.

THE Family Court of Australia is searching for Layla Leisha, who they believe may be in Lismore with her father.

The Court made orders for the 7-year-old to be returned to the Commonwealth Law Courts in Brisbane on June 23 by her father Shahrainer Eric Shem Leisha.

However Layla was not returned on that date, and now the Court has issued a Publication Order to seek public assistance to help locate the young girl.

Layla, born on December 8 2006, has dark brown hair, brown eyes and is approximately 140 centimetres in height and of average build.

Layla is believed to be with her father, and as Mr Leisha has family members living near Lismore, the court believes it is possible that they may be residing in that area.

Mr Leisha is 42 years old and is a person of Aboriginal descent.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Layla Leisha are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
