Hasil fails in bid to return to medicine
DISGRACED former Lismore obstetrician Roman Hasil has had a new bid to practise medicine rejected by the NSW Medical Tribunal.
The tribunal found in February Hasil, 56, lacked the mental capacity to practise medicine because of a head injury he had suffered while staying at a men's hostel in Sydney.
The tribunal had also found Hasil guilty of unprofessional conduct after complaints from a group of former patients from the Northern Rivers.
However, Hasil has been trying to return to medicine, trying and failing to gain work with the Sydney Private Hospital at Ashfield as a gynaecological surgeon.
Hasil last month told the medical tribunal he wanted his registration as a doctor to be reinstated.
However, the tribunal has now ruled he will not be allowed to practise unless he can pass neuropsychological tests to show his mental capacity has improved.
