Habsburg to have another crack at Murwillumbah

ALWAYS the bridesmaid, Habsburg will be having another crack at them at Murwillumbah on Sunday, when he heads out in the feature 2020m Pottsville Beach Sports Club Cup.

The five year old gelding has run second five times at his last seven starts, including last Friday's Murwillumbah meeting. He has finished third twice in that time to make it a prefect minor place record, collecting nearly $20,000 in consolation prizemoney. By a Dubai World Cup winning stallion in War Cry (IRE) and out of a Group winning Redoute's Choice mare he is well bred and has demonstrated a preference for getting over ground, just like his sire.

Sunday's cup race looks his best chance yet at breaking the hoodoo. Increasing his chances and giving heart to long suffering backers, he is up against some modestly performing types in this Class 1 plate after racing against better company.

The track is currently rated a Good 3 with a mixed bag of weather patterns due over the Tweed in the next 72 hours according to latest predictions from the Bureau Of Meteorology.

Sunday's meeting will be followed in a week's time by the Tweed River Jockey Club's first of the new calendar year on Sunday, 3 January. The feature race will be the New Year's handicap.
