Gromsearch gold for Glinderman

LENNOX Head surfers Jai Glinderman and Dembe Ryan won their age divisions at the Rip Curl Gromsearch in Victoria.

Glinderman was impressive in his 14 and under boys final, throwing down big turns in shifty conditions to claim the win.

He finished second in his opening heat before going to win his quarter-final and semi-finals in impressive fashion.

With a heat total of 16 (out of a possible 20) Glinderman bested former winner Marlon Harrison who had a heat total of 14.70 points in the final.

Meanwhile, Dembe Ryan dominated the 12 and under boys division locking in two excellent scoring rides to finish with the highest heat total of the day, 16.73.

Older sister Nyxie Ryan made the final of the 14 and under girls and finished second.

She scored a perfect 10 during the earlier rounds and will be one to watch in the series.

"I'm stoked to get my first 10 point ride at a Rip Curl Gromsearch event” Nyxie said.

"Victoria is always such a fun place to come to, its cold but the waves are incredible.”

Six champions were crowned at the conclusion of the first event in a a five-part series.

Bella Wilson won the 16 and under girls division at her home break while Gold Coast surfer Josh Boyle won the 16 and under boys.

"I'm super excited to win the Rip Curl Gromsearch” Boyle said after the final.

"This is my first major event win and I'm stoked.”

"The competition at these events is really good. All of the surfers push you to get better and surf harder. It's heaps of fun.”

Lennox Head brothers Jack and Harry O'Brien also competed and were eliminated in earlier finals.

The next event is at Maroubra in Sydney this weekend with the national finals in January.
