Grants abound for volunteer organisations on Northern Rivers

MORE than 1500 local volunteers will benefit from grants totalling $230,000 for 60 community organisations across the Northern Rivers.

Federal member for Page Kevin Hogan wanted to thank all the volunteers who gave freely of their time.

“Volunteers play a critical role in shaping our community and making us stronger and resilient,” he said.

“These grants will help the volunteers who help us.”

Mr Hogan put out a call to all our volunteer organisations to apply for the grant last October.

In all, Mr Hogan today announced grants totalling almost $350,000 for 92 volunteer organisations across the entire electorate of Page benefiting almost 2500 volunteers.

Volunteer groups in the Northern Rivers which have received a grant include:

  • Lismore Base Hospital Auxiliary
  • Westpac Rescue Helicopter
  • Lismore Scout Group
  • Friends of the Koala
  • the Lantern Parade
  • Lismore Basketball Association
  • Casino Neighbourhood Centre
  • Evans Head-Casino Surf Life Saving Club.
