Grand medal haul
YOUNG athletes from Richmond Valley Swimming Club have brought home 36 medals since the beginning of the year, after successful attendances at the Kyogle and Murwillumbah carnivals.
"This is a great effort from a small club like ours," president June Blunn said.
"These carnivals have been well supported, with 10 or more swimmers attending.
"In these carnivals our swimmers have been achieving some great times and improving their PBs by seconds."
Ms Blunn said swimming club members had also performed well in their school zone carnivals.
Congratulations to swimmers
She passed on congratulations to Zac Armstrong, Elliott Hyder, Max Fisher, Tara Blunn, Jacob Yourell, Caleb Yourell, Chloe Gillett and Kye Mangan for making it to the next level.
While Tara Blunn from St Josephs, Woodburn, competes in the Lismore Diocesan Primary team at the New South Wales Catholic Primary Sports Polding Swimming Carnival in Sydney later this month, Paralympian Jackie Freney, also a swim club member, will be performing in the Olympic trials in Adelaide.
"We will all be cheering for Jackie," Ms Blunn said.
