Gotye proves he's a crowd pleaser at Brisbane show

LEAVE it up to Wally de Backer to use a rubber chicken as an instrument.

The musician, better known to the world as Gotye, said it was good to be back in his home country.

Gotye made his triumphant return to Australia, after touring the world on the back of Somebody That I Used To Know, last month when he picked up four ARIA Awards.

Last night's show at the Brisbane Riverstage was the third in his four-date national tour.

He opened the show with The Only Way, and continued with What Do You Want, Easy Way Out, Smoke and Mirrors and oldie Thanks For Your Time before inviting comedy organ player Barry Morgan on stage to help with State of the Art.

Gotye played his global phenomenon Somebody That I Used To Know, which recently earned him a Grammy nomination, about two thirds of the way through the show, preferring to finish the night with the more up upbeat I Feel Better and Learnalilgivinanlovin.

The crowd favorite of the night, though, was his first big hit song in Australia, Hearts A Mess.

Gotye's Australian Tour finishes in Sydney tomorrow.
