Goonellabah pool to reopen after lining fixed

AFTER a four week closure, the Goonellabah Sports & Aquatic Centre pool will reopen tomorrow.

Unfortunately, it is just in time for children to go back to school.

Several leaks were detected in the pool lining late last year and a new PVC membrane has been installed to replace the damaged lining.

Acting Centre Manager Yonika Mantel said Aqua and Swim School classes will continue at the Lismore Memorial Baths this week, with the Goonellabah Sports & Aquatic Centre timetable returning to normal on Monday, February 1.

"We are so thrilled to welcome back our members, students and visitors," she said.

"We would like to thank everyone for their patience during this time and to staff for not only identifying the problem but also the professional way in which they have handled a very difficult situation.

"It's now back to business as usual and we invite the whole community to once again come and enjoy their local pool."
