Goonellabah charity marathon sure to have cyclists in a spin

GOONELLABAH Sport and Aquatic Centre's first Spin Marathon will involve plenty of cycling but the only goal participants will be heading towards is raising money for Our Kids.

For "spinning" is the word used to describe riding a stationery exercise bike during a fitness class.

"A spin class is a high-intensity workout, great for those who love to sweat," GSAC team leader Julie Speidel said.

The Spin Marathon will however take the workout to another level with participants enduring four hours on the bike.

Teams comprise two to four people with one team member to be on the bike at all times.

Ms Speidel said the marathon, which will raise funds for the Our Kids charity, had sparked plenty of excitement with some teams already training.

The Spin Marathon will be held on Tuesday, October 28. Registration is $50 per team with the event limited to 19 teams.
