Goonellabah juniors undefeated in tennis comp

A CHILLY breeze but plenty of sunshine met the keen young players for the early morning start of the junior tennis grand finals.

In Division 1, undefeated Goonellabah Goers accounted for Ballina Boomers 5 sets to 1. But Ballina's No 2 ranked player upset Goonellabah's regular No 1 Sam Lancaster 8-2.

Divison 2 was an all Ballina affair with The Bashers defeating Ballina Bros 4 sets to 2.

Divison 3 went down to the wire, with Mullumbimby Madness and Ballina Bandits all tied up on games going into the final singles.

Mullum's Phoebe Thomas edged out Ella Peart in a tense tie-breaker to clinch the win for her team.
