Goonellabah ALDI is only days away from opening
GOOD news, discount shoppers, ALDI's new Goonellabah store is officially opening next Wednesday.
The discount chain with its eye-catching (and occasionally random) weekly specials is expected to challenge the dominance of Coles and Woolies in the suburb, just as it has done across Australia in recent years. In Goonellabah, the three retail giants will all be within walking distance of each other.
While there is already an ALDI store in Lismore, the new one means Goonellabah residents won't have to make the trip downtown to score their weekly bargains.
The new store will also bring 15-20 full-time jobs to the region.
In a statement released by the company a spokesman said the new store would give locals the opportunity to discover the "ALDI experience", which included "permanently low prices every day".
The supermarket's claims to provide a massive saving for shoppers on daily items have also been backed up by consumer advocacy group CHOICE.
Their 2015 Supermarket Price Survey revealed that "buying ALDI exclusive brands instead of leading brands" would save customers can save approximately 50% off their grocery bill.
To celebrate the opening of the store, there will be a number of unique Special Buys on offer, which will not be available collectively in any other store.
