Good Samaritans smash window to help toddler in car

A GRATEFUL mother has thanked two Good Samaritans who smashed a window to help a toddler trapped in a car.

Kirsty Marie Krause took to social media to thank her unnamed heroes after her son was accidentally locked in her vehicle.

The car locked itself with her little boy inside and the two helpers smashed the vehicle's window to rescue the toddler.

Ms Krause said she was so grateful because it took RACQ Rescue 20 minutes to arrive following the smash and rescue.

"They even helped clean the glass out of my car as well thank you so much," she said.

"I was putting stuff in the car and shut the boot."

"The heat that was coming from my car when they got him out it was like an oven.

She said she put the child in the seat so he wouldn't get run over.

Residents praised the heroes.

Christina Manteit said: "How scary.

"Good on the fellows that helped get your little one out safe and sound."

Kayla-Rae James said locking a child in a car was one of her biggest fears.

"Cars heat up so quickly," she said.

"I can't imagine the feelings you would have had once you realised its locked and he was in there. Glad it all worked out."

Tammy Louise Hale agreed.

"My car locks when the key isn't in the car after a few minutes.

"I hold my key but it's a bit annoying.

"I can also unlock my car through my boot if it's open.

Jade Salomon said it was a common occurrence.

"My uncle has worked for RACQ for years.

"It would be one of the most popular call outs he gets besides keys being left in the car, kids and dogs being locked in from central locking, so dangerous."
