Gold Coast FoodFestival


Sharpen your appetite because the 2011 Tastes of the Gold Coast program is on from September 3-18.


With more than 25 ticketed and community events, this year’s festival is sure to tantalise the senses. Just a few highlights of the program include:


Take three highly-respected chefs, throw in the freshest local produce, mix in live demonstrations, a pinch of giveaways then serve with delicious wines to complement and what do you have? The premiere event for Tastes of the Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival. Watch as professional chefs Daisuke Miyake (Ten Japanese Restaurant), Brian Meade (The Arts Centre Gold Coast) and George Francisco (QT Gold Coast) re-create their favourite signature dishes, resulting in a nine-course lunch that will have your tastebuds singing. Catch It & Cook It is a free, interactive fishing experience off the pier at the Broadwater Parklands. Catch your own feast with professional fisherman on board to clean and prepare the food. There will also be some extra catches available for "the one that got away".


You don’t have to be a foodie to enjoy this night out. All you need is a sense of humour and to enjoy eating and drinking. Not your typical pub trivia, this event has humorous photos for each question and answer plus a seven-course degustation meal. Come alone, bring a few friends or organise a table of 10. Proceeds go to Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC), providing life-saving medical treatment to underprivileged children. Cost: $69 per person. Bookings:


Learn the tricks first hand from Benihana’s very own teppanyaki chefs as they show you how to enhance the natural flavours of fresh ingredients and prepare a range of dishes. Price includes a live cooking demonstration, an informative presentation from the Executive Chef and a three course meal with a glass of wine to complement each course. This is your chance to experi- ence the rich and vibrant culture of Italy. No passport required – just a big appetite, a zealous sense of fun and your finest dancing shoes! Do away with moderation for one night of absolute indulgence at Watermark Hotel & Spa’s ever-popular Italiano Carnevale. Put on the Ritz with a high tea that will rival the best of the best served in hotels and restaurants around the world. Tastes of Gold Coast Ambassador, George Francisco will be hosting a High Tea Cooking Class in his impressive kitchen at Bazaar. The popular interactive marketplace, located at QT Gold Coast is an ideal venue for guests to learn about making scones, homemade jam and brandy cream. George will also be teaching participants how to make his signature Champagne Madelines and Teton de Venus. The Executive Chef and co-owner of Little Truffle Dining Room & Bar has created a unique event which showcases the very best produce sourced from within 100 kilometres of the award-winning restaurant. The 100 Kilometre Dinner will offer guests a delicious four-course dinner with all ingredients grown and produced locally, While you enjoy a delicious meal, there will also be live entertainment.
