Glee the only FNC hockey winner

GLEE was the only Far North Coast team to win in the latest round of A-grade women's interdistrict hockey, accounting for the Mullumbimby Suns 5-1.

In other games, the Kings- cliff Crabs outplayed Northern Star 5-1, Casuarina were too strong for Easts 6-0 and Ballina drew 2-all with Murwillumbah Vipers at Ballina.

Glee dominated play against the Suns and led 2-0 at half-time with goals to Alice Bradford and Kim Clark.

Cassie Hughes extended the lead early in the second half and Alice Bradford made it 4-0 with her second goal.

The Suns' only goal came from a penalty stroke converted by Dennette Doran.

Hughes completed the scoring with Glee's fifth goal from a penalty corner.

Glee's midfield of Sophie McDonogh, Maddi Richey and Nella Bradford played strongly while Brooke Riley stood out for the Suns.

Kingscliff Crabs opened their scoring against Star with penalty corner conversions by Lisa Eglington and Erica Wells.

They continued to apply the pressure with Star's goalkeeper Zoe Cotterel making a number of fine saves.

Ciara Laybutt extended Crabs' lead to 3-0 at half-time by netting a rebound and she scored her second with a neat shot from a cross pass.

Eglington also finished with a double.

Star's only goal came when Analyce Bodley finished off an attacking raid.

Casuarina led 3-0 at half-time against Easts, who came out strongly after the break with some penetrating runs built out of defense from Denni-Lee Gray, Kalani Moss and Jade Gray.

Jessie and Jade Reid domited for Casuarina while Jade Preswich and Bree Birmingham linked well in the midfield.

Easts voted Denni- Lee Gray as their players' player.
