Nessie goes bush

NORTH America has Big Foot, Scotland has the Loch Ness Monster and now Gladstone has its very own larger-than-life creature.

Sitting on the corner of the Dawson Hwy and Red Rover Rd is the Gladstone Grassy Nessie.

The three-metre-tall Loch Ness look-alike is growing quickly in our own backyard, making for a popular local attraction and catching the eye of many passers-by.

The hedge-shape tree has invoked a lot of talk among residents and has recently been given the gift of sight after a cheeky individual has added a fake ‘eye’ to the tree.

The grassy monster is clearly visible to all commuters travelling along the road from Calliope to Gladstone and is a must-see attraction for locals and newcomers to the region.

To view this wonderful creation of nature head down the Dawson Hwy and keep your eyes peeled on the right hand side of the road just after Marley Brown Oval.
