Gladstone couple's spontaneous Gympie Muster wedding

BRENDA Strong and Craig Oglesby had everything they needed for their spontaneous wedding at a music festival, except for the official paper work.

The music-loving Gladstone couple decided a "spontaneous mock wedding" was the perfect way to enjoy the Gympie Music Muster at the weekend.

The couple gathered with their friends and family, and hundreds of strangers also at the festival, to have the fake wedding.

Their real wedding, which they have spent months organising, will be in October at Seventeen Seventy.

"We thought to ourselves why not just do it here?" Ms Strong said.

"We had these cool rings made up by one of the market stall ladies who was selling jewellery."

"We created a Facebook event too telling our friends to meet us at the main stage at 4pm."

The couple were cheered on by the crowd, who were waiting to watch X Factor contestant Caitlyn Shadbolt take the stage.

"It was funny because everyone was giving us cuddles, saying congratulations," she said.

"Word spread really fast and people were coming up to us saying, 'you're the ones who got married'," she said.

On Sunday Ms Strong shared the news and photos on her Facebook page, but then had to field comments and questions from her October guests if the big day would still go ahead later in the year.

While they'll still officially tie the knot in October, Ms Strong said it was a great way to enjoy their second Gympie Muster.

When they return to Gladstone this week, she'll be in full preparation mode to get her real wedding day ready.
