Gentlemen win

EVANS River Rugby Killerwhales hosted the Gentleman of Murwillumbah on Saturday for their round 18 clash.

Both teams are unable to make semi-final football, so pride was on the line for this game.

The Killerwhales, who have been decimated with injuries this season, had not only 15 fit players ready to take the field but also a couple of substitutions - a rare event.

It was a free-flowing first half with both teams attacking each other's line but the Gentleman of Murwillumbah came out on top, posting a three-try lead before the Killerwhales hit back with two tries of their own going to the break 17-10 behind.

The second half was more a defensive battle of which saw neither side gaining much advantage, however, Murwillumbah finally gained the advantage, scoring two tries to one, with the final score 26-17.

Honourable mention to Derrick Duignan, Ryan Duncan and Jack Wythes, with Angus Price voted as the Players Player.
