Genia good to go for Reds clash against Western Force

CHAMPION Queensland half-back Will Genia will play his first game in six months in the Super Rugby clash against the Western Force in Brisbane on Saturday night, and it won't be easy telling him to stay put at half-time.

Genia will start the match and captain the Reds, his first game back since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the Wallabies' Rugby Championship victory over the Springboks in Perth last September.

He is expected to play for the first 40 minutes, but how does Genia feel about only playing half a game?

"They (his teammates) said they would handcuff me at half-time in the change rooms and I said 'you are going to have to because I might want to go back out', he said with a laugh.

"But I have to be smart, build up the endurance. It would be wise just to keep it to 40."

The game will be the first for Genia against the Force since he almost joined them almost a year ago and he knows he may cop a spray about staying put.

"If they do, they do. I don't really care," he said.
