Gang bashing of boy, 16

TWO teenagers have been arrested in relation to the alleged gang bashing of a 16-year-old boy in an unprovoked attack on Thursday afternoon.

The boy and a friend were walking east along Barker Street, Casino, about 4pm when the attack happened.

Police said they were approached by a group of about 10 Aboriginal males in an alley near the Golden Chicken store.

He was punched in the head and body and fell to the ground, where his attackers continued to kick and punch him before someone intervened.

The boy was taken to Casino Hospital with lacerations to his head, knees, arms, hands and elbows, and bruising on most of his body.

Police yesterday said a 17-year-old male had been arrested in relation to the assault and his bail was refused on Friday night.

A 15-year-old boy has also been arrested and he was released on conditional bail yesterday.
