DESPITE a few drops of rain and some cold winds the first Christmas Carols at Caniaba went off without a hitch.

About a thousand turned out in their warm jackets or with blankets draped over their shoulders to support the Jodie's Inspiration event and the charity's late founder, Jodie McRae.

Activities included the Christmas Ham Wheel, jumping castles, face painting, the opportunity for kids to write Santa a letter, the final major raffle for the year and of course the carols.

Caniaba Public School, Trinity Catholic College Lismore and Summerland Christian College students were among those who performed on stage.

Santa Claus arrived in style as a Rural Fire Service truck passenger and an impressive fireworks display ended the evening.
