Funds for community transport

COMMUNITY transport services across the Northern Rivers will be given a boost with $81,000 in funding from the NSW Government.

Lismore MP Thomas George said the money would be shared across Northern Rivers Community Transport, Northern Rivers Social Development Council, Tweed, Byron and Ballina Community Transport, Tenterfield and Glen Severn Community Transport, and Blind and Vision Impaired Community Transport.

The transport is intended to help people who need transport to get to services such as hospital appointments.

"This Government is committed to supporting community transport and recognises the integral role community transport providers play in helping residents overcome barriers to access," Mr George said.

"By funding community transport, we can make sure people who cannot drive themselves have access to their local community and essential services.

"By giving people more transport options, we ensure they don't feel cut off or isolated from our community."
