Fun day raises $8500 for Kayla
KAYLA'S Fun Day, held in Woodburn two weekends ago, has managed to raise $8500 for Kayla Clapham, a single mum undergoing treatment for leukaemia.
Friends Juanita Mohammed and Dannielle Ritchie in conjunction with the Mid-Richmond River Lions Club organised the community day and, despite the rain, many of the locals and those further a field came to enjoy the entertainment.
"A lot of people were really happy to see what a great job we did," Ms Mohammed said.
"It was about letting the kids have a fun day, getting the community together and raising money for Kayla.
"I had a lot of fun doing it."
Ms Mohammed said one of the highlights of the day for her was the clown, Mr Bum Squeak.
"He brought so much fun and laughter into the day," she laughed.
"As far as raising money went, the raffles that had football jerseys for prizes were very successful."
Ms Mohammed said she was delighted with and thankful for the commitment and donations made by locals and businesses with cash and prizes, not just in Woodburn, but from Evans Head and even Lismore.
