Fruits of labour about to pay off

THE $10 million renovations to Lismore Central are well under way, and the first new-look shop that will be open for business is PJs Country Fruit and Veg.

The iconic fruit and veg store, which has been in the same family for 17 years, will launch its new look on Monday.

Owners Brendon and Natasha Garred said they were excited to be the first fully renovated shop in the centre to reopen.

"Our shop looks amazing," Mrs Garred said.

"It's a completely new fit out - it looks totally different.

"But we're still stocking the same local products and supporting local farmers as much as we can.

"We'll also have some exciting new products, such as a peanut butter maker and more bulk foods."

Mrs Garred said specials for opening week included tomatoes at 99c/kg, local Cavendish bananas for $1.99/kg and new season royal gala apples for $1.49/kg.

"We're really excited for everyone to come in and check out our new-look shop," she said.

"It's been a lot of hard work."
