Fruitopia: Delicious drag queens, classy cabaret, and a bar

FRUITOPIA will turn the Lismore Showground into an alliteration heaven this weekend: Delicious drag queens, classy cabaret, perfect pet shows, a bountiful bar, fabulous food and plenty of parking.

The event is an all-day gig for the Northern Rivers gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual, intersex and queer youth and adults, their families and straight friends.

Just a sashay away, sequins, feather boas, and glittery outfits are getting their final touches.

This year, Fruitopia will see the fun extend into the evening, with DJs and dancing under the night sky.

The activity is part of the regular calendar of events by Tropical Fruits, a not-for-profit community organisation that has represented the local LGTBI community since 1981.

So with all the fruits (and their friends) coming into Lismore this weekend, expect fun, frivolity and a fine time.

The day will start off with a daytime picnic from 11am, with activities directed to rainbow families: the dog show, games, drag shows, stalls and plenty of entertainment.

Later in the afternoon there will be plenty of yodelling along with 'Queereoke', then the Drag Superstars to conclude with DJs and dancing until 9pm.

At the Lismore Showgrounds this Saturday from 11am until 9pm.
