Free financial info service available

PAGE MP Janelle Saffin is encouraging people to take advantage of a free Financial Information Service seminar being run by Centrelink in Ballina on Wednesday (August 3).

The ‘Retirement Reality and Investment Choices’ seminar will be held at the Ballina RSL Club from 10am to noon.
“It’s never too late, or too early, to start planning your financial future,” Ms Saffin said.

“Centrelink’s Financial Information Service officers are available to help people of all ages make informed financial decisions about their current and future financial needs.

“Many people appreciate the opportunity to find out about long-term investment strategies versus short-term investment strategies.

“Centrelink officers can also provide information about superannuation, inheritance and things like impending retirement, the passing of a spouse or partner, and accommodation choices for elderly  people.”

Ms Saffin said the Ballina seminar is not just for Centrelink customers – anyone can attend.

“Planning now will give people greater choices in the future,” she said.

Centrelink’s Financial Information Service officers are not financial planners or financial counsellors. They do not give or sell advice, prepare financial plans or purchase investment products.

People interested in attending the seminar should call 13 63 57 to secure a place or email fis.seminar.bookings@humanservices.gov.au
