Four local sporting facilities to receive funding

FOUR sporting facilities in the Ballina Electorate will receive funding from the NSW Government as part of the 2014/15 Sport Facility Program, Ballina MP Don Page has announced.

The four facilities will receive $25,000 each for individual projects.

Lennox Head Cricket Club will receive funding for the construction of a storage shed and shade shelter at Megan Oval.

Mullumbimby Rugby League Football Club will receive funding for the construction of a new amenities block at Mullumbimby Leagues Club fields.

Byron Shire Council will receive funding for the construction of an amenities block and change rooms at Tom Kendall Oval.

Ballina Shire Council will receive funding for the installation of lighting to netball courts at Kingsford Smith Reserve.

Mr Page said the grants will boost participation in sporting activities in the area.

"It is a great pleasure to assist local clubs and sporting associations by providing the funds to increase the availability, standard and quality of sport facilities in the Ballina Electorate," Mr Page said.

Nationals Candidate for Ballina, Kris Beavis, also welcomed the announcement.

"Sport is a huge part of our way of life and the NSW Government recognises that," Mr Beavis said.

"Safer and more accessible venues are crucial in assisting locals in staying fit and healthy.

"The improvements to these well utilised sporting facilities will be welcomed by the respective sporting communities," Mr Beavis said.
