Former Woodlawn teacher given 10 years for sexual offences

FORMER St Johns College Woodlawn teacher Richard O'Connor has been jailed for 10 years for sexual offences committed against 12 male students.

The 76-year-old appeared in Lismore District Court this morning charged with 41 offences against former students.

Judge Laura Wells sentenced O'Connor, who has been in protective custody for more than 12 months, to 10 years jail, with a non-parole period of 6.5 years.

He will be eligible for release on February 4 2021.
