Fog causes crashes

MOTORISTS are being warned to take care travelling on Northern Rivers Roads this morning with thick fog contributing to a number of crashes.

A Transport Management Centre spokeswoman said a dump truck and trailer, loaded with sand, travelling toward Woodburn lost control and rolled on Wyrallah Rd at Tucki at about 5.40pm.

The spokeswoman said the bin from the trailer remained on the road and the damaged truck came to rest on the side of Wyrallah Rd.

Heavy vehicle traffic is being diverted around the crash scene.

The driver of the truck escaped uninjured.

Then at about 9.50am a car crashed at on Caniaba Rd at the top of a hill near Pelican Creek Rd

The Tomki Rural Fire Service brigade attended and found the driver of the car was not injured.

RFS volunteers controlled traffic on the road while the car was salvaged by a tow truck.

Police are reminding drivers to slow down on the wet roads and take care in foggy conditions.
