FNC baseballers hit big time with selection in nationals
FOUR of Far North Coast Baseball's best juniors will suit up for Queensland this weekend for the National Baseball Championships at the Blacktown International Sports Park, Sydney.
Taliesin O'Meara and Oakley McMahon will compete in the under-18s, while Riley Donnelly is the lone local player selected for Queensland's under-16s.
Kodey Wilford also gained selection in the under-18 team but was replaced by McMahon after he fractured his hand playing in the Brisbane summer competition.
Not to be outdone by the boys, Clare Evans also gained Queensland selection and will compete in the National Women's Baseball Championships at Narrabundah Ball Park near Canberra.
The tournaments start Sunday and culminate in the gold medal games on January 18.
FNC Baseball not only boast these players but also has other representatives in Scott McClelland, who will be assistant coach for the under-16 team, and Mark Britt and Geoff Hallman who will be part of the umpiring crew.
All of the players will be competing against some of the best junior baseballers in Australia and are keen to test their skills in the tournament.
