Flume, Amy Shark tipped to battle for Hottest 100 glory

TODAY'S countdown of Triple J's Hottest 100 annual music poll is likely to be a battle between Flume and Amy Shark.

ARIA Award winner Flume is backed by online betting agencies including SportsBet, William Hill and Luxbet to top the poll with his song Never Be Like You, while newcomer Amy Shark is ranked a close second for her song Adore.

Flume has six ARIA Awards under his belt for his two albums and is up for two Grammy Awards next month, while Gold Coast native Amy Shark signed a worldwide recording deal with Wonderlick Entertainment in November.

This year's poll, which ranks music released in the 2016 calendar year, has broken several records.

According to Triple J's bean counters 2,255,110 votes were cast - a 7.6% increase on last year. A record 66 Australian songs have also made the list, which will be revealed on the youth radio station from noon AEDT today.

The countdown broadcast has become the traditional soundtrack to many Australia Day celebrations, but its future date is up in the air.

Other artists also expected to make the top 10 include Tash Sultana, Illy, Hilltop Hoods, The Weeknd, Childish Gambino, DMAs, Peking Duk and Big Scary.
