Flooding forces more evacuations

HEAVY downpours across the Riverina in southern NSW continue to cause major flooding, with 300 properties in Lockhart and another 240 properties in Yoogali Village west of Wagga Wagga evacuated overnight.

Meanwhile, people at another 390 properties in Lockhart and 240 in Yoogali Village are being told to prepare for possible evacuation.

Southwest of Wagga Wagga the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) told residents of The Rock to leave their homes on Sunday morning, as flash flooding hits properties and rises the already swollen creek.

"Residents should assemble at The Rock Hall, from where they will be transported via bus to Wagga Wagga," the SES said.

"Do not delay your evacuation. Roads will be congested or closed. You could become trapped and need rescue."
