Flood rescue at Nana Glen

A FLOOD rescue was mounted at Nana Glen this afternoon to save two people and a dog trapped inside a car in floodwaters.

As SES and police crews rushed to the scene on Bucca Rd just before midday a local farmer used a tractor to pull the vehicle out of strife.

Triple-0 calls reported two adults and a dog were trapped inside a vehicle which stalled while making a water crossing on the flooded road.

Coffs Harbour SES unit controller Bill Roffey said one crew took a rescue boat to the scene.

"We have sent one crew to Nana Glen via the Orara Way with a boat, because the road is cut on the outskirts of the town near the Nana Glen bridge and we have also sent a crew out along Bucca Rd," Mr Roffey said.

So far the SES has answered almost 80 calls of assistance in Coffs Harbour.

Residents and businesses in flood prone areas have sandbagged their properties as the flood threat rises.

Police are also advising motorists on the Pacific Highway to be careful north of Coffs Harbour.

There is water over a northbound lane near Mullaway and reports of large potholes forming near Sandy Beach north of the Graham Dr turn-off.
