App offers 'thinking person's Angry Birds'

ALL going well Adam Little and his wife Marianne McAllister of Noosa are in for the slingshot "ride" of their lives after a game he thought up is sent to launch in app stores early next month.

Adam, 29, is a graphic designer who was well known as a staffer of the Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club.

He and Marianne have joined veteran United Kingdom game designer Bob Wood to form Team Honcho to market the thinking person's Angry Birds obsession.

Their collaborative FlingMonster could live up to its name and hurtle the trio into cyber stardom, thanks to a gaming galaxy of their making where orbits the digitally enhanced Planet X.

"He grew up a bit of massive gamer," Marianne said of Adam from Sydney where they are promoting their impending launch.

"Adam had a couple of ideas for games but he doesn't actually have coding skills. So, basically, he told almost anyone who would listen about his idea and he was trying to get in touch with someone who could code this game for him."

Someone told them about Bob, and he liked their sales pitch.

"He's a veteran game developer and already got titles out on the app store and has worked for big gaming studios," she said.

"He just loved Adam's idea and said 'okay I'll do that', so they formed a partnership.

"And that's what we've been doing for the past 18 months."

Marianne said FlingMonster was a "slingshot action, physics-based puzzle game"

"It's based on the Angry Birds style," she said.

"In our game the premise is that astronauts have invaded Planet X and there's these monsters that are on Planet X and they're really cute and adorable characters and you sort of fling them across the screen into the astronauts' defences.

"And you take down their defences."

"The physics is absolutely incredible; it's all real world physics."

FlingMonster will be released on the App Store and Google Play on May 2.
