Flicks In The Sticks festival at Casino this month

THE Casino Community Garden will be transformed into holiday festival venue this month, for the very first Flicks In The Sticks open air cinema and family festival.

An initiative of the newly formed Casino Neighbourhood Centre Social Impact Group, Flicks In The Sticks will feature a swag of activities going off at the garden on Saturday from 4pm until late, with entertainment and activities for kids and families.

Casino Neighbourhood Centre CNC community builders coordinator Annika Olsson said Flicks In The Sticks is a collaboration between the CNC, Casino Angels, Lend-a-Hand and Playquest.

"We know that Casino is fragmented and disparate," she said.

"We want to bring Casino together, to create fun, shared experiences for it's people and as a result, increase the community's strength and resilience."

People will be able to bring a rug and sit under the stars for the special screening of the movie Inside Out.

To keep the kids entertained, there will be a petting zoo, a jumping castle, face painting artists and an Easter egg hunt.

For the young at heart, there will be live local music and a silent disco.

And for everyone to enjoy, there's games, amusement rides, raffles and prizes.

People feeling a bit peckish, will be able to peruse the market stalls selling locally produced food, produce and tasty snacks and refreshments.

Entry is by gold coin donation and Flicks In The Sticks is a drug and alcohol free event.
