Five win soccer scholarships

FIVE rising Far North Coast soccer stars have received $500 McDonald's Northern NSW scholarships.

Kurt Walker of South Lismore, Sophie Thompson of Cumbalum, Rex Robson of Lennox Head, and Patrick Kable and Jay Keevers of Goonellabah were presented with their scholarships yesterday.

The scholarships assist young players with the costs of attending soccer camps, clinics, events and even training, which can involve enormous travelling time.

The McDonald's and Northern NSW scholarships are a partnership between McDonald's and Northern NSW Football, now in their fifth year.

The partnership also includes the support of more than 260 clubs in Northern NSW as well as the McDonald's schools coaching clinics, which focus on the important role exercise plays in junior development.
