CAN your body be too perfect?

Fitness evangelist Chontel Duncan found out the hard way that her carefully sculpted body, and particularly her washboard abdominals, created complications when it was time for the 27-year-old to give birth.

Ms Duncan's son Jeremiah was brought into the world by emergency caesarean section in March.

She wrote on Instagram that she now has a "quite large" scar where doctors battled to deliver the baby boy.

"They struggled to rip Jeremiah from my tummy as my abs locked him in super tight as I began vomiting during the operation," she wrote.

"This is why my scar was cut up on my right side because the surgeon had to cut me further an use forceps to successfully get Jeremiah out. Perhaps a down side to a strong core.

"I healed according to my doctor normally, my scar isn't small, it's quiet large & I can feel in the centre scar tissue.

She added that she now wears her scar as a badge of pride.

"I would love 3 more children & I will always try for a vaginal birth with each one," she wrote.

"So to all the women out there wearing a cesarean scar, I am VERY proud of what mine means & for the beautiful gift I received through mine.

"They are memories of the day we all became mummies."

But as Ms Duncan's story was picked up by media outlets and debated online, she has been shocked by the way other women have emerged to attack her.

She said after sharing a few words on her birthing experience she has been under attack.

"What's so disgusting though is seeing other women rip me to shreds, whatever happened to women empowerment?

"I will never stop leading by example in hopes that I can change this nasty behaviour that seems to still exist.

"My message is that we need to support each other more and stop bashing other women down."
