Fishermen find man's body in Tweed River at Tumbulgum

A COUPLE fishing on the Tweed River near Tumbulgum discovered a body today.

The pair reported it to police about noon and police arrived on scene about 1.30pm.

Matt Price, of Tumbulgum, said they didn't realise what they had found until they got closer.

"All we saw was a bit of blue cloth," Mr Price told My Daily News.

"We thought it was a towel or something.

"We went over and that's when we noticed it was a body."

Mr Price, who lives near the boat ramp, said police had asked the pair to look for clues along the river bank and that he had found a hat.

He said he believed the man's car had been found nearby this afternoon.

No further details were available from police at this time.
