First play time fun

IT WAS standing room only on Monday, February 18, when the gate opened for the children's first day on our new play equipment.

Unfortunately we have had wet weather ever since.

The school and the P&C association have worked hard over the years raising the substantial funds of $24,000 required for this equipment.

Within the next few months we will also have another part of our new playground in place - our Cool Cubby. This has been funded through a grant we received from the NRMA.

The cubby will be built onsite through a partnership between our Year 10 construction students and our Year 9 Green Team.

It will be similar to the cubby built by a previous Green Team for the Evans Head Preschool.

The equipment outlined above is stage one of our primary playground update and we have a stage two planned.

The second stage will double the play equipment and after seeing how many children wanted to use the first stage, we can't get it soon enough. Our P&C is already working towards raising more funds and to this end they are hosting the charity of the day at the Lismore Bunnings barbecue on Saturday, March 2. So if you are in Lismore that day, call in a get a sausage sandwich or two.

We are also applying for more grants to help with funding and appreciate any support from our local community, who have always been generous with their donations.

While the old equipment has served our older students well over the years, it will now be restored and find a new home with younger children at the Evans Head Playgroup based at the Evans Head Scout Hall.
