First a caddie, next a coach for Ko

GOLF: World No.1 Lydia Ko has a new full-time caddie as she prepares for a new season on the LPGA Tour.

The 19-year-old New Zealander has employed Gary Matthews, a former caddie for Sergio Garcia, after he carried her bags on a trial basis at the end of the last campaign.

Matthews replaces Australian Jason Hamilton after he parted ways with Ko in October.

Ko also split from long-term coach David Leadbetter last month but said she expected to have a new mentor by the time she plays in her first tournament of the year, the Women's Australian Open, from February 16-19 in Adelaide.

"I can't really say any coaches' names yet, because I haven't tried out anyone yet,” Ko told GolfChannel.com.

"I'm going to see what my options are - I'll definitely have a coach before going to Australia.”
