Firefighters struggling to access remote bushfire

A FIRE is burning in a remote area of the Larnook, east of Kyogle.

Rural Fire Service operations officer Daniel Ainsworth said the fire was burning over an area of 10-20 hectares and was being closely monitored.

He said the Larnook RFS had identified containment lines and would possibly undertake back burning operations over the weekend when the fire became more accessible.

He said the fire was first reported on Thursday afternoon and RFS volunteers had been talking to landowners to make sure they were aware of the situation.

Mr Ainsworth said the hot dry conditions meant it was likely there would be a lot of smoke coming from the fire, but because of the remoteness of the location they were unable to get in and fight it.
